Ingredients

1 lb ground beef or lamb
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups mixed vegetables (peas, corn, carrots)
1 cup beef broth
2 tbsp tomato paste
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Pit Boss Smoked Salt & Pepper Rub (to taste)
4 large potatoes, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup milk
2 tbsp butter
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Directions

Preheat your grill or smoker to 350–375°F (175–190°C).

While the grill preheats, prepare the filling on the stovetop. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or lamb with the chopped onion and garlic until the meat is browned and the onions are tender. Drain excess fat.

Stir in the mixed vegetables, beef broth, tomato paste, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with Pit Boss Smoked Salt & Pepper Rub, salt, and pepper. Let the mixture simmer while preparing the mashed potatoes.

In a large pot, boil the peeled and chopped potatoes until tender. Drain and return to the pot. Add milk and butter, then mash until smooth. Season to taste.

In a grill-safe baking dish, layer the meat and vegetable mixture on the bottom. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top, sealing to the edges. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top.

Place the dish on the grill over indirect heat. Close the lid and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until hot and bubbly with melted, lightly browned cheese.

Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
