If you’re looking for a great low carb or gluten free onion ring recipe, give these bacon wrapped onion rings a try. This one skips the breading altogether, swapping it for flavorful smoked bacon. Be sure to cook the bacon until it has that crunchy texture that makes onion rings such a favorite appetizer.

These bacon wrapped onions are also a fantastic side or topping to your favorite burger or grilled chicken sandwich recipe.

Note: It is recommended to use Competition Blend Hardwood Pellets with this recipe.

  1. Preheat your Pit Boss Grill to 250°F.
  2. Peel each onion and cut into thirds, separating the onion slices into rings. Using two slices of bacon, wrap around the onion ring until the ring is fully covered, securing in place with a toothpick. Continue until all the bacon is used up.
  3. Place the onion rings on the and smoke until the bacon is cooked, about 120 minutes.
